Death Couldn't Hold Him

Death.

This word holds so much power. It is what makes us say goodbye to loved ones. It instills fear in hearts. It is even sometimes an excuse to deny God's existence.

One of the many beauties of the Gospel is that the ultimate, inevitable road to death didn't stop our Savior. If Jesus only died for our sins, it would have been a great sacrifice. One life for another. But, dear friends, He didn't just die.

Our Savior's resurrection means hope for the suffering. Comfort for those in pain. It means that we can live without fear in the work that Christ has called us to do.

When Jesus rose from the dead, He proved that He was God in the flesh. He has the power to forgive sins, change hearts, and give new life after death. 

So what's next? If an explanation of the Gospel ends right here, we could all just meet up a couple of times a year to celebrate the birth, death, and resurrection of our God.  However, as we will see next week, when we truly understand the sacrifice that was made for us through Jesus, we cannot help to respond...
