Reflecting on Colossians 2:6-8
This week, we have zoomed in to look at Colossians 2:6-8 to see what we can gleen from Paul’s letter to the church in Colossae.
Only by looking at three verses of Scripture, we have pulled out several truths, including:
- Our faith, down to our salvation, is all about Jesus.
- Paul is an excellent example of keeping his eyes on God by thanking Him, even while suffering.
- Paul gave the church tools to protect our faith, as well as ways that Satan uses for danger.
We could spend another week on these same verses and discover new gems. God’s Word is amazing!
As we wrap up another week in the Round, let’s look at Peter’s words in 2 Peter 1 : 3-4:
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
Peter reminds us that Jesus has given us the tools needed to grow in godliness, which is to know Jesus Himself.
Scripture is our primary way to grow in Christ.
This passage in 2 Peter goes hand in hand with the verses that we have studied this week written by Paul. As followers of Jesus Christ, our primary goals should be to know Jesus deeper and deeper and to glorify Him in our lives.
Sometime over the coming weekend, I urge you again to find a quiet time and place to spend time with Jesus. Grab your Bible and read through the book of Colossians. Don’t worry. I just checked and it’s only four pages in a Microsoft Word document.
What does God show you through the book of Colossians? Does your heart struggle to believe the Gospel? What parts of your life should you surrender to Him?
See You In The Round!
