4 Tips On Making The Most of New Year's Resolutions
Christmas has just wrapped up and now we are just days away from our annual 'reset button.' Do you know your resolutions for 2015?
Here are a few tips to help ensure that this time next year, you'll hit your goal.
- Seek God's direction. Whether you are using a brand new Bible-In-A-Year or you're dusting off and renewing that gym membership, before you begin, spend some quiet time reflecting and praying. God convicts of sin and directs our paths. He is active in the lives of His people. Therefore, we should seek His will in all things.
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness..."
- Seek accountability. Regardless of the resolution, it's a lot harder to give up when someone is there to root for you. Invite a friend to join you in your new goal.
- WHEN you fail, don't give up. Failing doesn't mean that you have to wait until 2016 to try again. Wake up tomorrow and start from there. Each day that passes will discourage you from starting again.
- Don't try to catch up. Genesis is probably the most read book of the Bible. People jump into reading plans and then miss a day, promising themselves that they'll read it tomorrow along with tomorrow's reading. Then they just don't have enough time to read two days' readings, so it gets pushed back further. Instead, if you miss a day, start where you left off the next day.
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own."
