The Thankful Challenge

Did you see the “Thankful Challenge” on Facebook?  A friend of mine challenged me to join in the chain of posting 3 positive things for which I am thankful for five days.  I also had the task of challenging two other friends each day with participating in the Challenge.

As silly as it sounds, by day two, I struggled to come up with my list.  Then I remembered Christina’s reminder to pay attention to the small ways that God works in my life. Even in the most difficult and challenging days, there is something to be thankful for.

After missing out the past couple of years, I was finally able to go on my family’s annual vacation this summer. Our first morning there, my dad and I walked along the beach fairly early in the morning. It was slightly cloudy, but we saw the sun peeking through with the rays shining down on the ocean.

I was reminded of God’s beauty and was so thankful to wake up each morning and bask in His glory and the beauty of His creations.

We are reminded throughout the Bible to give thanks to the Lord. When I searched “thanks” in the Bible, 100 verses were found with the word thanks. King David writes throughout the Psalms about giving thanks to the Lord.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” I Chronicle 16:34

I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.” Psalm 7 : 17

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song." Psalm 95 : 2

"Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 110 : 4

Consider yourself officially challenged to participate in the “Thankful Challenge.” Every day for five days, post on Facebook the following:

"Jennie from challenged me to post 3 things I am thankful for and to challenge 2 people every day for the next 5 days to do the same.”

Then make your list!  Need help? Check out Christina’s post, “Simple Thankfulness” or Ann Voskamp’s “Ten Thousand Gifts” book (Book Review here).

What are you thankful for? And remember, God is great, even in the midst of the strongest storms.

See you in the Round!
