Dancing In The Mess

Our family has had sickness after sickness this season.  As a mommy of seven, you can imagine how many things demand my attention.

One evening, I could see a pile of dishes needing washed in the sink.  The floor was scattered with toys, blankets and pillows.  The scent of cleaning sprays and cough drops filling the entire house.  I could hear kids calling to Mommy as they played, argued, and needed refills in their sippy cups.

It happened in the middle of it all.  It happened in the middle of sickness.  It happened in the middle of noise.  It happened in the middle of having seemingly endless things to do.

All the responsibilities melted away when my husband took my hand and started dancing with me in the kitchen.  This moment absorbed into our souls.  The kids watched as they saw their parents smiling at peace with life.

Moments like this are what I desire for my children to absorb.  Our two year old daughter started giggling.  My older son replied with an “ewww”.  My oldest daughter smiled.  Right there in the middle of a mess, Mommy and Daddy danced and it made more of an impact on our children than clean dishes or immediate refills on sippy cups.

Life is messy in any stage of life.  I want to encourage you today for 5 minutes to dance.  I know that some of you are grieving, sad, sick, tired, lost, in a mess.  That gives us all the more reason to embrace this moment of joy.
Isaiah 26:3 tells us this (parentheses mine):

"You (God) will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."

We may live in a messy world, but when the Spirit is present, His fruits will follow.  Be filled with joy TODAY, my friends (no matter what the mess).

See you in the Round!
Kim
